The Do’s and Dont’s of Summer Skincare: 5 Tips To Keep Your Skin Glowing

The Do’s and Dont’s of Summer Skincare: 5 Tips To Keep Your Skin Glowing =

Summer is officially in full swing and if you are anything like me, then you are spending long days outside soaking up the sun before it gets cold out! Busy days at the pool, hiking and spending time with friends & family can make it easy to forget about your summer skincare regiment. That being said, here at Latika we want you to know that taking care of your skin is just as important in the summer as it is during the other seasons. From sunburns and sweat, to the extra dry indoor atmospheres created by air conditioning, the summer brings a whole different set of problems to protect your skin from. That is why we want to share our pro-tips for keeping your skin healthy and glowing all summer long!

Here are a few of our do’s and don’t’s when it comes to summertime skincare:

DO drink lots of water!

During the summer it is super important to stay hydrated. The heat makes you sweat more, which can lead to dehydration. Dehydration has many negative side effects that you want to avoid, and one of those is that it can make your skin look dry and wrinkled. That is why it is so important to make sure that you are getting those 8 glasses of water a day! We love the mini oz Swell water bottles—the perfect size to carry anywhere, in any bag.

DON’T forget to wear sunscreen!

This is one of our most important summer skincare tips! I am very pale, so I inevitably spend half the summer looking like a human tomato.  That is why I make sure to apply sunscreen every morning before I head out of the house. It is also important to reapply later in  the day as the sunscreen wears off. Even if you don’t burn easily, sunscreen is a necessity because it helps shield your skin from the ultraviolet rays that can lead to skin cancer. On the off chance that you forget your sunscreen and you get a little too much color (we aren’t judging you! It happens to the best of us), try using our organic face cream for some sunburn relief. The herbal ingredients in it (such as heal-all and Allantoin) and the aloe vera it is based on helps to reduce the itchiness and redness of a sunburn.

DO moisturize daily.

It may be humid outside, but cranking up the AC in your house can dry out your skin. Air conditioners take the moisture out of the air, which can lead to dry and itchy skin.  A great way to prevent this from happening is by applying moisture right after you shower. This locks in the natural moisture created from the water. When you get back from a day outside, we recommend that you use lotion to revive your skin from the sun.  Latika Cremes are great for hot weather because they are rich with Shea butter and aloe, yet still light enough to wear in the heat of the summer.

Don’t itch your bug bites!

When it comes to summer skincare, it is important to make sure that after a long day outdoors you are taking care of whatever bites and burns you got throughout the day.  Scratching your bug bites too much can lead to permanent scarring. A great way to relieve yourself from itchy bug bites is to dab on some of our Lavender Lip Balm. Like with sunburns, lavender can help sooth irritating bug bites.

And last, but not least….

Do have fun! Summer is one of the best seasons. The long days mean more time to spend with friends and family. Get outside, enjoy the weather, and savor the sun because before you know it, it’ll be wintertime again.
